2019 CSU Bass Day

On Sunday, February 3, 2019, Columbus State University will host CSU Bass Day from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Schwob School of Music Legacy Hall at the River Center for the Performing Arts. This event is a fun and exciting way to learn more about the bass. Bassists and bass enthusiasts of all ages are welcome from beginners through collegiate level.

This year, Bass Day will feature the LaGrange Symphony Double Bass Quartet and the Schwob School of Music Double Bass Studio, the “Schwobbassi.” This day will be dedicated to and centered on the beginning bassist. We will focus on the fundamentals of double bass playing. The day will culminate with a recital featuring Bass Day participants. For more information see:

2019 KSU Young Artist Competition

The Kennesaw State University School of Music Young Artists Competition seeks to engage and showcase the most talented, pre-college instrumentalists in the Southeastern United States. Awards include cash prizes, scholarships, the opportunity to perform as a featured soloist in concert with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra and the Kennesaw State University Symphony Orchestra, and more. Applications and video recordings for the Divisional Preliminary Round must be submitted by 11:59 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018. In 2018 there were 44 instrumentalists from four different states that applied for the competition; the awards included $6,000.00 in cash prizes, $90,000.00 in music merit scholarship offers, and the opportunities to perform in concert with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, the Kennesaw State University Symphony Orchestra, and at the Great Performances Concert Series in Highlands, North Carolina.
